Building the future with Innovation: the key to 2024

In the midst of global, economic and social crises, the ability to think outside the box and find creative solutions is becoming a key differentiator for organizations.
History teaches us that great breakthroughs often come in the most difficult and darkest of times. The Second World War, for example, unleashed a series of technological innovations that have shaped the modern world. Similarly, the Covid-19 pandemic has demonstrated just how powerful technology can be, spurring a wave of digital transformation and advances in healthcare that would likely have taken years to materialize.
On the other hand, just as the world is changing, technology is coming up with a series of trends, such as Generative Artificial Intelligence, and there are organisations that are not yet ready to embrace all these dimensions.
It is in the face of adversity that gaps in systems and organisations are exposed, but it is also in the face of adversity that environments emerge that are conducive to thinking, innovating and reinventing. Organisations that adapt quickly and embrace innovation have a significant competitive advantage, and this principle will be no less true in the coming year. In 2024, the companies that stand out will be those that have demonstrated the ability to innovate through technology to overcome a variety of crises, as highlighted in the IDC study “IDC FutureScape: Worldwide Future of Digital Innovation 2023 Top 10 Predictions”.
Rapid digital evolution has made it imperative to develop agile and effective solutions to meet today’s challenges. With an immense amount of unstructured data available, business intelligence should be a concern for organisations seeking the right insights to optimise operations, reduce costs and improve performance.
That is why Data analytics and Artificial Intelligence solutions will continue to feature prominently on C-level agendas this year, with generative AI increasingly taking center stage not only in society, but also in companies.
Gartner predicts that by 2026, the adoption of generative AI will skyrocket, with more than 80% of organisations incorporating generative AI APIs (interfaces), models and applications into their operations, compared to less than 5% today.
Companies are thus creating new ways to compete and achieve new levels of productivity by taking a closer look at this technology that allows them to automate tasks but also create original content based on existing data and models.
Data governance will be another major trend this year, as awareness of data protection increases and companies seek to ensure that their practices are in line with ethical standards and regulations.
It is true that companies that embrace technological solutions are more competitive and innovative. However, there is no need “to ride the crest of the wave” – rather than having the best solution or trend at a global level, the important thing is to have the most appropriate solution for each organisation, look at its internal challenges and adopt a customised solution that really works for your business.
AI is nowadays recognised as a key technology for driving innovation and differentiation in the market. By making significant investments in this area, companies seek not only to improve operational efficiency, but also to gain competitive advantages, and today we see leading companies seeking holistic transformations, leveraging AI to optimize internal operations, as well as to drive the development of new products and services.
I therefore believe that innovation is the key to success in 2024, with challenges providing unique opportunities to think and innovate. As we adapt to a world in constant change, innovation (well thought out and adapted to each reality) emerges as the driving force behind progress and the building of a more resilient and promising future.
