BI4ALL supports Mudum Seguros in the new Data area

Lisbon, February 22nd, 2023 – BI4ALL, a leading company in Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence services, worked alongside Mudum Seguros to review the technological architecture for data support as part of the data area’s integration into the company’s structure. From this project arose the data programme currently in use by the insurance company.

For more than 25 years Mudum – Companhia de Seguros, S. A. (Mudum Insurance Company), 100% owned by the French financial group Crédit Agricole, has leveraged the use of the data at its disposal to operate its business, seeking to be innovative with its customers and the services it provides. Following the review of the Company’s strategic positioning, it became necessary to structurally review the Tech Hub used, the organisation and the teams.

“Extending the capacity to use data to improve the services we provide and the way we operate was considered a priority for the company. In this sense, in 2022, we decided to strengthen our focus on the Data area and create a dedicated organisational structure”, begins by explaining Mara Ferreira, Director of the Data Technology and Transformation Department at Mudum Seguros.

BI4ALL’s solution thus responded to the company’s need to reinforce its internal data capacity and integrated, in a single data programme, the four pillars defined as priorities in this new phase of the organisation: Governance, Architecture and Technology, Regulation and Security, and Culture. “We were looking for an entity that had knowledge and experience in the design and implementation of architectures and technological solutions, that took advantage of current technological capabilities, but that also knew the challenges inherent to an organisation with mature information systems. It was also crucial that they knew the reality and specificities of the insurance sector (including the requirements arising from IFRS17 regulations) and that they could adjust the pace and teams to the various projects ongoing in the company”, specified Mara Ferreira.

The BI4ALL solution allowed the internal adoption of the use of new work tools to explore data and produce information for reporting; centralised availability, in the short/medium term, of the main KPIs of each area; establishment of data and information management policies that are strategically aligned with the business; as well as allowing the company to take higher advantage of the information, through the implementation of the Business Intelligence (BI) system.

“Mudum is an excellent example of how Analytics solutions allow companies to have huge advantages by having the information centralised and processed, getting really important insights for decision-making and process optimisation. Transforming data into knowledge is key for organisations,” said José Oliveira, Chairman of BI4ALL.

During the project, BI4ALL was invited to participate in initiatives related to creating the company’s data catalogue and glossary. Additionally, BI4ALL is also giving support in the governance system, good practices and rules for the use of technology to support the exploration of information, namely Power BI.

Currently, BI4ALL is supporting the execution of proofs of concept by working with the Centre of Excellence of the Crédit Agricole Assurances group. The proofs of concept focus on testing the technology to assess its suitability for the company’s requirements regarding management capabilities, technology integration, data inventory (automatic and manual), usability, segregation of functions, investment costs, maintenance costs and vendor dependency.
