Challenge

In many organisations, updating critical operational data still relies on manual and poorly integrated processes. Business users often need to export data, make updates externally, and then re-enter it into source systems. This approach creates several operational challenges, including a high manual effort associated with data entry and updates, a lack of integration between analytical tools and operational systems, and an increased risk of errors and data inconsistencies.

To address this challenge, BI4ALL implemented a write-back solution integrated with Power BI, based on the PowerFlow Framework and supported by Power BI Transactional Task Flows. This approach enables business users to update critical data directly from Power BI reports, ensuring that information is automatically written back to the data source in a secure and controlled manner, without the need for manual processes or external tools. 

The solution was developed in line with architectural best practices, ensuring seamless integration with existing reports and a simple user experience. By introducing transactional capabilities into analytical dashboards, Power BI evolves from being solely an analytical tool into an operational platform for managing and updating critical data, enabling more efficient processes and faster, better-informed business decisions.
